Jamie brings more than 25 years of experience as a leading communications experts, advising presidents, CEOs, philanthropists, and public sector leaders through moments of opportunity and crisis.

 

At Beyond Advisers, Jamie helps clients shape and communicate their impact with clarity, confidence, and credibility. She specializes in storytelling, precision messaging, executive communications, and crisis response, drawing on her experience managing public affairs challenges across the globe. Jamie helps leaders simplify complexity, craft powerful narratives, and lead with purpose across all communications channels—from earned media and brand protection to AI-powered messaging and geopolitical strategy.

 

Jamie has advised over 500 senior executives and served as a senior communications strategist to more than 25 foundations and philanthropic institutions, including the Gates Foundation, the Aspen Institute, the UN Foundation, and the Council on Foreign Relations.

 

Prior to joining Beyond, Jamie led Smith & Partners, an executive communications firm. Her public sector leadership includes service as Deputy White House Press Secretary and Special Assistant to President Barack Obama, Communications Director at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and senior roles with Secretary Madeleine Albright, the U.S. Senate, and Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. In the private sector, she has held leadership roles at Edelman, The Linux Foundation, and advised Fortune 500 companies including General Motors, Google, Microsoft, Pfizer, and the NFL.

 

Jamie has worked in over 50 countries, spoken at global convenings including Davos and the UN, and taught at The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Communications. She is a graduate of Kenyon College and The University of Edinburgh, and has pursued further study at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

A Chicago native, Jamie recently returned home after nearly three decades in Washington, DC. She lives with her husband, their three children, and their golden retriever.
